Really good toaster!
I thought about buying a cheapo toaster for about $20-$30, and then read the reviews. They all said the same thing - good for a cheap toaster, but it breaks/doesn't do x well/etc. This toaster does the one and only thing I want from a toaster - it toasts bread. Really evenly and really well. It looks funky too (which I think is a good thing). The only slight negative is that it's definitely bigger than your average toaster - I would say about 30% bigger in height and depth. But maybe that's because that's what's needed to actually toast bread well. Definitely worth buying!
Really good toaster
This toaster works really well. It is more of an orangy-red than fire engine red, in case you care.
No regrets
It was hard to forego the desire to have a retro Toastmaster on the kitchen counter. The style of the Bistro is a fresh and pleasing change.
The mechanism feels smooth and positive. The crumb tray is rather shallow but fits well.
The bread regularly comes out evenly toasted. Slices of the loaf from our horizontal bread machine fit well. If your bread slices are square rather than rectangular the upper edge will stick out of the top of the toaster.
The controls are blessedly simple. There are only two buttons, one for ejection, and one for a defrost setting.
This toaster hits the three things most desired in any appliance: attractive, good mechanics, good results.
