Waste King 9940
Pros: Good value for the money. I replaced a Badger unit with the Waste King Model 9940.
Cons: I could not find the Model 9940 on the Waste King Mfg. site for comparative information. Also the Waste King rubber mounting with a clamp design appears to be lesser quality mounting design than the Badger locking mechanism. Time will tell if it falls off.
One more comment: The Amazon site leads you to believe that you need to purchase additional items to install this unit. EVERYTHING I NEEDED WAS IN THE BOX WITH THE DISPOSER. DO NOT BE TRAPPED INTO BUYING ITEMS THAT YOU DO NOT NEED!
Overall, I am satisified with the Waste King 9940 and I would recommend the unit to others.
Nice Machine!
I didn't think that I would ever be writing a review about a garbage disposal, but I didn't think that there was a difference worth noting. I mean it is a garbage disposal, right?
Well, I am pleasantly surprised! I have always used Insinkerators, thinking they were the best. I found this on Amazon, at this wonderful price, looking to replace a 4 year old Badger 5. It worked. For a while, before the stupid plastic housing cracked. I epoxied it, and got another 8 months out of it, and then it just fell apart. 3 Year warranty, of course. I looked at some of the Waste King reviews, and thought I would try one myself. What a powerful and quiet disposal! Tons of power, fast speed, well built, and did I mention quiet? Easy installation. Only thing that was a little disappointing, is that the installation requires plumbers putty, and including a small tube would have been really handy. I had to stop in the middle of the install and run down to Wallyworld to get some. Other...

Overall the product works well for the price compared to the 7 yr old badger 5 plus which had leakage issues for years. The 8 year warranty was a draw for me compared to the 3 yr one i had on the badger.
Note: I have read many positive reviews for this product / brand, but i did not notice anyone report anything negative about performance. I would be interested to hear if others can validate the following "con"
Con: Slower drain speed / water splash back from air trapped in disposal.
The sink water does not go down as fast as compared to the badger 5 plus when we drain large amounts of water from boiling pasta. Air does appear to be trapped in the disposal and the air has to bubble up first before it really starts draining fast.
Pro: quieter.
This is definitely a lot quieter compared to the old badger 5 plus which had some sound insulation.
